In the spring of 2017, a two-year extension agreement was ratified by the central parties, and under the OSSTF Constitution, ratification of membership was required. The ratification vote was successful in approving the extension agreement, thus changing the central conditions for the 2017-2019 school years. With the extension agreement, the Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT) was founded. The OSSTF ELHT is called OSSTFBenefits. Newsletters and information specific to osstfBenefits Trust are available from the Members Only section of the OSSTF provincial website. Education workers represented by the OSSTF/FEESO voted in favour of adopting the central agreement for education workers. The 2014-2017 collective agreement consists of two parts. Part 1 includes key terms agreed to in central negotiations between the CSST, the Ontario Public School Boards Association (OPSBA) and the provincial government. Part 2 deals with local conditions. It should be noted that at the time of posting, Article L10.05 and Article L23.10(c) have not been agreed and are currently being considered by the OSSTF and OPSBA in the Central Dispute Settlement Committee in accordance with C5.2. Toronto – May 16, 2020 – Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers` Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) voted to accept key collective agreements reached on April 20 with the Ontario government and associations representing school boards across the province.

Significantly, pursuant to section L5.16 Teacher Performance Evaluation, new language has been negotiated that includes a process for evaluating the performance of new and experienced TLDSB/OSSTF District 15 teachers. This document is now part of the collective agreement. According to the Education Act, the following regulations are of direct interest: “The OSSTF/FEESO will continue the fight to reverse this destructive policy,” Bischof concluded. “It is true that without our efforts, it would have been much worse,” Bischof continued. “But larger classrooms, mandatory online learning and reduced funding to support students will still be a reality in provincial schools next September.” In addition to the collective agreement, our employment is subject to various laws: according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), there are too many regulations to list. In this case, it would be beneficial to review the law and learn about your rights and obligations under the OHSA. More information about your rights and obligations under the OHSA can be found in the Health and Safety section of our website. . With regard to each legal act, there are regulations that specify or articulate more precisely the legislation under which they were adopted. “OSSTF/FEESO members recognize that these agreements are flawed, but provide the necessary stability in these challenging times,” said Harvey Bischof, OsSTF/FEESO President.

“While we have been able to fend off some of the Ford government`s most egregious attacks on education, MPs will not forget this government`s efforts to undermine publicly funded education in Ontario.”
